downeast was born of a hazy bates college dorm room idea, and one of the few of those that’s ever worked out: make an unfiltered cider that tastes like the cider we grew up drinking in new england. cider that tastes like cider. years of recipe tweaking on an old orchard in maine led to unfiltered original blend in 2011.
from bates to an old orchard in maine to charlestown to our current home in east boston, the goal has remained the same. make the best products we can…
… and we’ve continued to do just that. we’ve expanded from that dorm room to biggest cider brand in New England. now present in 18 states. we’ve experimented with different flavours. we’ve gone beyond ciders. we’ve gone from parking lot parties to a full blown taproom with multiple pop-up bars. we’ve continued to evolve but remain focused as ever on that half-baked dorm room idea.
